THE PROJECT

The project concerns the conservation and the communication of ‘dissonant heritage’ caused by conflicts, both real conflicts (belligerent hostilities and war) and interpretative conflicts.

WHAT KIND OF HERITAGE ?

Dissonant heritage is characterized by values that, when misinterpreted or tabooed, can lead society to perceive the “negative” message as prevailing over the “positive” one, influencing the desire to preserve the cultural asset.

The aim of the project is to identify which innovative tools can detect and control this new form of risk for heritage, mapping situations of tension and identifying tactics based on the analysis of virtuous and successful cases of re-signification of Dissonant Heritage

The final goal is to positively influence heritage safeguard and to outline management strategy for the conservation and communication of this architectural legacy.

As part of the Co.Co.War project, a new chapter begins in Armenia 🇦🇲.
This Experimental Lab expands our approach to dissonant heritage by exploring diverse contexts across the territory. Through close collaboration with Armenian universities, associations, and NGOs, we aim to understand how cultural heritage plays a role in identity shaping, conflict resolution, and resilience increasing.
Together, we’ll reflect on how communities engage with complex sites and what strategies are being used to protect, reinterpret, and activate heritage in areas shaped by historical tensions.
Stay with us as we share insights and stories from the field and explore how the past continues to shape the present. 🌍🎓

🔬 Experimental Labs – Predappio
Last week, from June 9–15, the Co.Co.War team held theworkshop "Laboratorio aperto alla ex Casa del Fascio di Predappio" in Predappio, Italy, dedicated to the in-depth study of the Former House of the Fascist Party. The site was critically analyzed and reimagined as a space for memory, historical reflection, and civic engagement.
Together with 15 students from @unibo , @politecnicoditorino , and @univpm , we explored possible future scenarios that could give new meaning to this significant site.
A heartfelt thank you to the Comune di Predappio, Ser.In.Ar Association, as well as @atriumroute, StudioValle Progettazioni Studio, and all the professors, and historians who contributed with their insight and made this experience possible. First Online Meeting "Setting the Stage"🎓🌍

Before arriving in Predappio, selected students from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Politecnico di Torino, and Università Politecnica delle Marche will join an online session to prepare for the upcoming workshop.
This first encounter will provide essential theoretical, historical, and logistical context, setting the foundation for the activities to be carried out in the Former House of the Fascist Party. 🏛️
